Our oyster farm lease is on the Newport River, an area historically known for its wild oyster population. The river has great algae, a good food supply and provides a perfect mixture of fresh and saltwater. That environment creates a unique flavor that attracts interest from all over the country for our Fat Bellies.

Our recipe for success relies on equal parts organization, location and continually seizing learning opportunities. Our first year, we sold 15,000 oysters, cleaning each one-by-one with a toothbrush. Now we have grown to over 1 million oysters sold per year, using more efficient growing and cleaning methods!
